NTD - SUBMARINES

The exceptional ability of the Navigation and Tactical Display (NTD) to fuse data from all sensors, provides  he user with the Recognised Maritime picture in the Operation /Control Room (CIC), on the bridge when  surfaced or to other workstation throughout the boat. Multiple sensor  sources, data link  y tem, sonar, radar, navigation, electronic warfare and optronic sensors, are all fused into a clear and concise format instantly recognisable in the modern warfare environment.

By combining both traditional and new technology  sensors with electronic chart, mapping and reconnaissance data, the tactical and navigational awareness of the user is raised to a new level – especially when operating within the littoral environment. Due to the inherent restrictions on space in both conventional and nuclear submarines and the harsh environmental conditions in which they operate, the NTD offers a range of displays for both internal and external use.

The Portable Auxiliary Display (PAD) is a light weight, waterproof, touch sensitive display that makes up part of the NTD range  or submarines and use on external bridges. Fully daylight and night time compatible, it adds flexibility to the NTD system, allowing the use of internal systems on the Bridge, when surfaced. When the Submarine dives the PAD is then used internally, to provide an additional command, blind pilotage, navigation or tactical picture display depending on the submarine’s role. The  flexible nature of the NTD range gives combat system designers and operational personnel alike, freedom to configure the system given the ever changing role, threat and manning of the vessel.
